A
Napoleons ambitions to assert complete control over the rest of Europe, ultimately extended all the way to Moscow

A
the whole society was being mobilised for war. it produced 300,000 men divided into 11 armies which had never been done in European warfare

why did people join
A
soldiers who made up the armies joined as a way of escaping prison.
- This gave them a basic standard of living

how Napoleon fought
A
- He organised his ideas into corps
- They moved separately and independently and then come together at the right period of time and attack the enemy
- Napoleon manoeuvred his cause for a decisive battle
- armies living off the land which meant he can move fast and not rely on mass supplies and horses etc
- mass conscription which gave him a significant advantage over his adversaries

flaws of Napoleon
A
- He was REALLY bad a strategy but had very good tactics
- He missed out on many opportunities to have peace in Europe, he didn’t seem interested in having peace settlements, incapable of facilitating peace

Napoleon bringing about revolution in warfare
A
- approach to warfare was characterised by innovation and flexibility
- concept of “manoeuvre warfare” which allowed for fast mobility, speed and the concentration of forces at decisive points on the battlefield
- ^ in contrast to the rigid linear tactics of the past which favoured firepower over manoeuvrability
- Concentration of forces to overwhelm the enemy
