Nanoparticles Flashcards
what are nanoparticles
a nanoparticle is a particle that is around 1-1000 nanometres in size, this means they are Nano sized.one billionth.
what size are atoms
on average atoms are 10 to the power of -10 meters long
what happens to surface area: volume at Nano size
because nanoparticles have a larger surface area they increase in size
why are graphene and fullerene so important
one reason it is important is because it is commonly used in electronics.
How can nanoparticles be used
Some things nanoparticles can be use in is glasses lens, crack resistant pain, anti graffiti coatings
what are the dangers of nanotechnology
Nanoparticles are likely to be dangerous for three main reasons: Nanoparticles may damage the lungs. We know that ‘ultra fine’ particles from diesel machines, power plants and incinerators can cause considerable damage to human lungs.
