We found out that there were stomata on both sides of the leaf, but the lower surface has many more than the upper.

1. Lots of stomata to let the carbon dioxide in and oxygen and water out
2. Leaves are thin so there is a small distance that the gases have to travel
3. There are big air spaces, so the carbon dioxide diffuses quicker. (Carbon dioxide diffuses quicker in air than through cells)
