先祖を大切にするのと同じ気持ちで、世話になった人や目上の人に挨拶をし、おくり物をしたのが、この「お中元」や「お歳暮」の始まりである。
It may be difficult for foreigners to understand this Japanese custom.
外国の人に日本人のこの習慣を、理解してもらうのは、むずかしいかもしれない。
