Myth: God will love more me more or he will love me less depending on what I do
Romans 9:38-39 “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Myth: I have to do something in order to earn God’s salvation
Romans 5:6 “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners…God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Myth: I regularly disappoint God
Romans 8:17, 23-24 “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus…Who dare accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? Will Jesus Christ? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God pleading for us.
Myth: God the Father loves Jesus more than he loves you
Romans 8:14-15 “All who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God’s very own children, adopted into his family–calling him ‘Father’.
Myth: I may be a child of God, but Jesus gets the bigger inheritance- I’ll settle for the leftovers
Romans 8:17 “And since we are his children, we will share his treasures- for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too
