Pathology: Explain the abnormalities in bending light in myopia

A
  • The cornea and lens, when the bend rays of light, form the image IN FRONT of the retina
  • There is HIGH bending power in myopia

Symptoms: What are the symptoms of myopia? (4)

A
  • Complain of not being able to see distant objects (i.e blackboard)
  • Headaches
  • Divergent squint (infants/ preverbal children)
  • Loss of interests in sports/ more of an interest in books and pictures (toddlers)

  • Spectacles
  • Contact lenses
  • Laser eye surgery
