Description: What is myopia?
A
- Far away objects not seen clearly

Aetiology/ Risk factors: What is the most common cause of myopia?
A
Most common cause:
- Eyeball too long

Pathology: Explain the abnormalities in bending light in myopia
A
- The cornea and lens, when the bend rays of light, form the image IN FRONT of the retina
- There is HIGH bending power in myopia

Symptoms: What are the symptoms of myopia? (4)
A
- Complain of not being able to see distant objects (i.e blackboard)
- Headaches
- Divergent squint (infants/ preverbal children)
- Loss of interests in sports/ more of an interest in books and pictures (toddlers)

Treatment: How do we correct myopia?
A
Myopia correction: need to decrease the high bending power
Use biconcave lenses:
- Spectacles
- Contact lenses
- Laser eye surgery
