Stringhalt (equine reflex hypertonia) is an exaggerated upward flexion of hindlimbs, what are the 2 types of stringhalt?

A

1- acquired stringhalt: caused by lathyrism (sweet pea poisoning) in USA or flat weed (false dandelion or catsear. this type almost always affect both haindlimbs
2- idiopathic stringhalt can affect more hindlimb than the other
