what where the key features of the detente
the superpowers were worried as the Cuban missal crisis created the scare of a nuclear war occuring - another key factor is that both super powers where using alot of money on making the weapons witch both superpowers could not afford to keep using so much money.
what was salt 1?
salt on was the first agreement between the two superpowers. this limited the amount of nuclear weapons used, and it just limited nuclear capability in both superpowers.

what was the Helsinki conference?
the Helsinki conference was when the superpowers recognized soviet control over eastern Europe. the USSR the promised to respected human rights. this was just to keep the detente and peace between both superpowers.
why did the Helsinki conference help ?
this helped the superpowers because this limited alot of conflict and help create a more stable relation ship between usa and ussr.this also helped the relationship with europe.

1978 this was put in place because many Afghanistan people liked the idea of a communist county so wanted a communist government to take over and the USSR saw this as an opportunity to help Communism grow.
how efficient was salt 1?
short term it was good however both superpowers went against the agreement and made more nuclear weapons.

There were concerns about the 2000 soviet troops in Cuba then in the late 1979 NATO decided to place long-range missiles in europe. this meant the detente under pressure.
