Heat attack/stroke-
Mostly same diseases– just stroke is in the brain, both happen when there is a problem in the arteries.
Pulse-
The echo of the heartbeat, rate of beats per minute.
Where is the pulse taken, and what are the names of those arteries?
The wrist (radial artery), arm (brachial artery), neck (carotid artery).
Stethoscope-
A device used to hear the heartbeat, and abnormal breathing (if there is fluid in he lungs).
EKG-
(electrocardiogram), checks the electric activity of the heart, if this is consistent and not too slow or fast.
Blood pressure-
The push of blood against the walls of the arteries when the left ventricle beats.
Systolic+diastolic-
S- higher #, when the left ventricle pumps. D- smaller #, push of blood against arteries in between beats.
Sphygmomanometer-
Machine that measures blood pressure.
Cholesterol-
Fatty material, plaque, every cell membrane has and needs this.
Atherosclerosis-
Building up of plaque.
Arteriosclerosis-
When plaque hardens.
