My Bike Flashcards
acceleration
Change in velocity/time
attract
Cause to come to a place or participate by offering something of interest or advantage
balanced forces
In every direction any pushes and pulls are balanced by another force in the opposite direction
decelerate
A decrease in rate of change or in velocity.
distance
The length of the space between two points.
energy
Energy is the capacity of a physical system to perform work.
electrostatic forces
The forces between particles that are caused by their electric charges.
force
Strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.
force diagram
A diagram showing all the forces acting on an object.
force field
An invisible barrier of force.
friction force
Which is the force exerted on the surface by another when there is no motion between the two surfaces.
gradient
An inclined part of a road or railway; a slope.
gravity
The force that attracts a body towards the center of the earth, or towards any other physical body having mass.
lubricant
A substance used for lubricating an engine or component, such as oil or grease.
magnetism
A physical phenomenon produced by the motion of electric charge, which results in attractive and repulsive forces between objects.
mass
A large body of matter with no definite shape.
newton
It is equal to the force that would give a mass of one kilogram an acceleration of one meter per second per second, and is equivalent to 100,000 dynes.
north pole
Each of the two opposite points on the surface of a magnet at which magnetic forces are strongest.
reaction time
The time elapsing between the beginning of the application of a stimulus and the beginning of an organism’s reaction to it.
repel
Drive or force (an attack or attacker) back or away.
S.I units
Meter for length. kilogram for mass. second for time. ampere for electric current.
south pole
Each of the two opposite points on the surface of a magnet at which magnetic forces are strongest.
speed
The rate at which someone or something moves or operates or is able to move or operate.
ticker timer
Makes dots on a paper tape every fiftieth of a second.
