My Bike Flashcards
Acceleration.
The rate at which an object changes its velocity.
Attract
To pull with physical force.
Balanced forces
Forces that are equal in size but opposite in direction. And does not cause a change in motion.
Deceleration
Causes an object to slow down.
Distance
The extent or amount of space between two things
Energy
Energy can exist in a variety of forms, such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, or nuclear, and can be transformed from one form to another
Electrostatic force
The force existing between two charged particles at a distance.
Force
Strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.
Force diagram
A diagram showing all the forces acting on an object.
Force field
A field of force which can not be seen.
Gradient
The rate of ascent or descent.
Friction Force
Force exerted on the surface by another when there is no motion between the two surfaces.
Gravity
Force that pushes objects on to the ground.
Lubricant
A substance, such as grease or oil, that reduces friction .
Magnetism
The properties of attraction possessed by magnets.
Mass
Weight.
Newton
A unit that measures force.
North pole
The end of the earth’s axis of rotation, marking the northernmost point on the earth.
Reaction time
The interval between stimulation and response.
Repel
To thrust away.
S.I units
The International System of Units.
South pole
The end of the earth’s axis of rotation, marking the southernmost point on the earth.
Speed
Distance divided by time.
Time
A continuous, measurable quantity in which events occur in a sequence.
