How long is a daily good for?
72 hours without flight or major maintenance. Aircraft can be flown for 24 hours before another daily is required as long it doesn’t surpass the 72 hour time limit.
How long is a turnaround good for?
24 hours or until flown, turned, or major maintenance without hot seat. Weight off wheels = expired. 2 hours max engines offline to online.
What is a CDI?
Collateral Duty Inspector. Typically E-4 and above, completed CDI syllabus.
What can a CDI do?
Will not inspect their own work but can perform in-process and final inspections on any task that does not require the aircraft to have an FCF.
What is in the ADB?
Scheduled special/phase inspections, DTA, W/B sheets, A-sheet, previous 10 flights discrepancies, active discrepancies, fluid usage tables, hit checks, TDs.
Who can give egress training?
PR / AOs; all maintainers required; CADs, egress procedures, explosive systems ch10 namp.
Which deswirl clamp needs to be safety wired?
Front top and bottom, IPS back.
How long is a fuel sample good for?
24 hours.
What is MMP?
Monthly maintenance plan - Aircraft scheduled inspection due dates, schedule of phase or PMI, current list of QA personnel (QAR, CDQAR, CDI), current designated PCs / SFFs.
What is a CDQAR?
Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative. Performs QAR level inspections assigned to production work centers.
What is a QAR?
Quality Assurance Representative. E-6 or above, fully qualified in QPT syllabus in their technical field for TMS aircraft.
Can you fly through a DTA?
Yes, during RTB or up to an additional 24 hours as requested by CO to Wing authority.
What maintenance action triggers an FCF?
Engine, major fuel system component, drive train, gearbox, transmission, flight surfaces, rotor blades, flight critical component. >30 days no fly.
What is IRAC?
Interim Rapid Action Change.
Can a maintainer climb into the cockpit to turn rotors?
No.
What is a contingency sign?
SFF chief can sign acceptance for PIC in event A/C was down or had maintenance performed on it after walking.
What is SFF?
CO designates in writing; verify all outstanding discrepancies, ATAF, correct status/code, fuel samples taken, DTA, consumption records, TDs.
What are TA inspection items/length?
Material degradation, consumption levels, servicing / 1 hour.
What are daily inspection items?
Defects to a greater depth, general integrity / 2 hours.
What Mx tasks can a PC perform?
Grab rag, wipe off windshield.
What is the W+B form?
Form F.
How many people does it take to fold the tail?
5; 3 on pole, 1 on lock pin wrench, 1 on stab.
What happens when the tail is cracked 5 degrees?
The indexer extends to prevent windmilling (if power applied) - stop with broom.
