How did the Telegrams influence the Cold War?
They panicked the Russian and American governments and accelerated the Cold War- the findings seem to confirm their worst fears.

What was stated in the Truman Doctrine?
The USA pledged to support any nation threatened by a communist takeover. This support could be diplomatic, military or financial.

The USA gave $400 million of aid to Turkey and Greece in order to prevent the spread of communism.

June 1947
What did the Marshall Plan promise?
$17 billion of aid to European countries to help rebuild their economies. The areas of Germany under Western occupation benefited massively.
What did Stalin do about the Marshall Plan?
He ordered all the satellite states to reject it. He believed the USA was using economic incentives to lure Eastern European states away from the USSR.

It was an organisation that bought together all European communist parties and placed them under the control of the USSR.
