An image used as an object of worship.
What is shari’ah?
Islamic laws that prohibit certain behavior such as drinking alcohol, eating pork, gambling, and dress guidelines for women.
What is a sunnah?
A book for Muslims revealing Muhammad’s teachings, practices, and deeds.

Muslims’ holy month for fasting.
What is a hajj?
A journey (pilgrimage) to Mecca.

A place of worship for Muslims.

Religious leader of a Muslim empire/region.

A Muslim who believes that a caliph should be a blood relative of Muhammad.
Who is a Sunni Muslim?
A Muslim who believes that a caliph doesn’t have to be a blood relative of Muhammad.

A permanent settler, no longer a nomad.
