What is a book musical?
A musical that contains dialogue scenes as well as songs. For example West Side story
What is a through sung musical?
Contains no dialogue and is sung all the way through. Such as Les Miserables
What is an overture?
A piece of music at the beginning of act one of a musical which can help set the mood of the show. sometimes in early musicals this can be a selection of songs from the show. This catches the attention of the crowd.
What is a ballet?
This is sometimes included in shows and often represents as a dream. usually contains musical material already heard and often provides some interesting musical variation?An example is in Oklahoma! and Westside story.
What is a chorus?
Chorus is a type of song for a group of people. This tradition has continued from opera and is an effective way to establish the idea of a community and a large scenes. often includes harmony or unison passages. An example of this is look down from Les Misérables. 
What is an underscore?
Music that is written to play underneath the scene of dialogue
