What is Sonata?

A

Has a solo instrument or a small instrumental ensemble. Sonata came from the word “Sonare” which means sound. Intended for one or two instruments. A larger instrumental group that has more than two or three parts, such as a string quartet or an orchestra.

What are the characteristics of Sonata-Allegro form?

A

It has a homophonic harmony. It also has a short melody and defined musical phrases with two or more contrasting themes. It follows the Alberti Bass style.
