What is Sonata?
Has a solo instrument or a small instrumental ensemble. Sonata came from the word “Sonare” which means sound. Intended for one or two instruments. A larger instrumental group that has more than two or three parts, such as a string quartet or an orchestra.
What are the characteristics of Sonata-Allegro form?
It has a homophonic harmony. It also has a short melody and defined musical phrases with two or more contrasting themes. It follows the Alberti Bass style.
What is Concerto?
A musical composition in which a solo instrument is set off against an orchestral ensemble.
What is symphony?
Came from the Greek word “Symphonia” which means notes sounding together. Considered as the central form of orchestral composition.
