What does monophonic mean?
A single melody line, only.
What does homophonic mean?
A chord or texture / texture made up of chords
What does melody and accompaniment mean?
A tune with an accompaniment underneath
What does polyphonic mean?
Two or more melodic lines of music interwoven. This sounds like more than one strand or line of music at the same time.
What does unison mean?
This is where more than one part plays exactly the same notes at the same time.
What does imitation mean?
Where one part copies what another part has just played / sung
What does canon mean?
Where a tune is played at the same time as itself but overlapping because one part starts shortly after the other like a round
What is a Hook?
Tune, often short and catchy, melodic
What is skank in music?
Off beat that notes are played on and is used in reggae
