A Percussion Instruments (Membranophones)
- The Odaiko is a big drum on a stand and is struck with a padded stick The
Odaiko can also sometimes refer to any drum style but specificaly reserved for
druims of nagado style.
The Tsuzumi IS a Japanese twO-headed drum with hourglass-shaped bodies
The instrument is held on the player’s right shoulder and hit with the fingers
the right hand. The drummer can produce four soft sounds by changing
circling rope tensions with gentle left-hand squeezes.
The Tsuridaiko is a large Japanese hanging drum. It often accompanies imperial
court music of gagaku.

- The Koto is a traditional Japanese musical
instrument traditionally played as a form of
entertainment in the imperial courts. A traditiona
has 13 strings arched tautly across 13 movable bridges along
the length of the instrument. It makes base pitches by moving these 13
bridges before playing.
- The Biwa is a Japanese lute that is known for its graceful
pear-shaped body. This instrument is often associated with
Benten
the goddess of music in Buddhism.

piayed with a plectrum. Its construction follws a model similar
to a guitar or a banjo
employing a neck and strings stretched across
