The arrangement of pitches to establish tonal relationships. This involves concepts such as interval size & quality, key signatures, chord progressions and melodic patterns
Harmony
Simultaneous sounding music of more than one pitch and vertical oragnisation
Tone color / Timbre
The characteristic or quality of sounds
Texture
How sounds combine, interact and function in a piece of music.
Dynamics
The relative volume or intensity of sounds or pitches
Articulation
How specific notes or passes are played or sung.
Compositional Devices
Techniques that composers use to build, develop and present music ideas
Repitition
A musical pattern or idea that is established and used over again
Transition
A shift from one musical idea to another
Variation
Changes to establish new musical ideas and patters whist retaining recognisable features
Contrast
Where new musical material is introduced or where significant changes are made to establish different musical patterns
