Explain the evolution of Samba Music
-Began in Bahia in 19th century as semba
-local blocos formed
-in early 20th century, Brazillian government funded these blocks to promote national unity turning them into samba schools
Developed in favelas of Rio
1930s samba schools developed it into form to fit Carnaval parade
Rio style samba = samba carioca, samba batucada = Drum music of the samba parade, batteria = The drummers themselves
Sambadrome
Wen Semba de Roda came to rio, the instruments became more modernized and it got faster
