encircles the anus and attaches to central tendon
external anal sphincter- action
voluntary constriction of anus, turns off defecatory reflex
external anal sphincter- innervation

bulbospongiosus- origin & insertion
runs anteriorly from central tendon to clitoris (females) or midline raphe (males)
bulbospongiosus- action
helps produce & maintain erection of clitoris & penis
helps empty spongy urethra (male)

ischial ramus
ischiocavernosus- insertion
