Q

Information

A

Temporalis massater lateral pterygoid medial pterygoid all receive nerve impulses from the fifth cranial nerve trigeminal nerve which caused them to contract so that the length of the muscle shortens

Q

What is the origin and insertion of the lateral pterygoid

A

Origin lateral pterygoid plate at the base of the cranium behind the maxillary tuberosity

Insertion head of mandible condyle into the TMJ meniscus

Deeper layer muscles

Lateral pterygoid and medial pterygoid together contract pulling the mandible forwards biting anterior teeth tip to tip

Q

What is the origin and insertion for the Medial pterygoid

A

Origin medial pterygoid plate at the base of the cranium just behind tuberosity closer to the midline

Insertion the inner surface of the mandible Ramas and angle closes the mandible

Together with the lateral pterygoid both contract the mandible forwards allowing anterior teeth to bite tip to tip

Deep layer muscles

Q

Muscles of facial expression information

A

They don’t produce skeletal movement, only one end is attached to the school and the other two are deeper layer of facial skin. Causing skin movement. All facial muscles are innovated by motor branch of the facial nerve, seventh cranial nerve

17
Q

What are the muscles called

A

Orbicularis

18
Q

What are the mouth muscles called

A

Orbicularis Oris

19
Q

What are the cheek muscles called

A

Buccinator

20
Q

Buccinator muscles

A

Cheek muscles that attach above and below the Alviola process connects to muscle wall or throat behind and obicularis in front

It helps chewing by keeping food within the teeth
