Origin: clavicle
Insertion: crest of greater tubercle of humerus
Action: flexes, abducts and medially rotates arm
Pectoralis minor
Action: depresses Glenoid cavity
Synergist: pectoralis major
Latissimus dorsi *
Origin: crest of ilium
Insertion: intertubercular groove of humerus
Action: extends, abducts and medially rotates the arm, draws shoulder inferiorly
Supraspinatus
Action: abducts arm
Infraspinatus
Action: laterally rotates arm
Subscapularis
Action: medically rotates arm
Teres minor
Action: laterally rotates and abducts arm
Teres major
Action: extends, abducts, and medically rotates arm
Biceps brachii *
Origin:
- Superior margin of glenoid fossa
- Coracoid process of scapula
Insertion: radial tuberosity
Actions: flexes arm and forearm, supinates hand
Triceps brachii *
Origin: infraglenoid tuberosity of scapula
Insertion: tuberosity of ulna
Actions: extends and abducts arm and extends forearm
Coracobrachialis
Action: flexes and abducts arm
Brachialis
Action: flexes forearm
Brachioradialis
Action: flexes forearm
