What is the hypoglossus (XII) responsible for?
- depresses, protrudes, & elevates up & back the tongue
- draws hyoid bone forward,
- depresses mandible when the hyoid bone is fixed

What is the Glossopharyngeal (IX) responsible for?
-Narrows fauces
-elevates posterior tongue (which also involves vagus and accessory)
