Muscles Connecting Trunk to Upper Extremity (axio-appendicular) Flashcards
Latissimus dorsi Attachments (C6-8)
Attachments: lower thoracic spinous processes, thoracolumbar fascia & iliac crest to floor of the intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
Latissimus dorsi Actions
Actions: adduction, extension, and medial rotation of humerus
Latissimus Dorsi Innervation
Innervation: thoracodorsal nerve
Levator Scapulae Attachments (C4-5)
Attachments: from transverse processes of C1-C4 to the superior angle & superomedial border of the scapula
Levator Scapulae Actions (C4-5)

Pectoralis Major Attachments
Attachments: from clavicle, costal cartilages, sternum & aponeurosis of the external oblique to the lateral lip of the intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
Pectoralis Major Actions
Actions: humeral adduction, flexion & medial rotation (sternocostal portion assists with extension of flexed arm)
Pectoralis Major Innervation
Innervation: medial & lateral pectoral nerves
Rhomboids Attachments
