c. erector spinae
hi, i originate from the bottom of the rib cage, sternum and lumbar vertebrae, insert of the central tendon, and my action is to inspirate… which muscle am i?
i am the diaphragm! fun fact: i cannot be shown on the cadaver so make sure to memorize my OIAs!
i am on the anterior side of the body and i insert on the pubic symphysis, insert on the xiphoid process and costal cartilages and i compress the abdomen and flex the vertebral column… who am i?
i am the rectus abdominis! body builder like to show me off with their 6-packs!
i originate on the inferior border of the rib above, insert on the superior border of the rib below and i aid in inspiration… who am i?
i am the external intercostals… please don’t confuse me with my twin the internal intercostals whose O and I’s are mine flipped
i am the most medial on the posterior side, and i can be seen on the spine, who am i?
i am the spinalis!
I am located on the posterior side but i am located most laterally, who am i?
i am the iliocostalis!
