Muscle Part 1 Flashcards
Frontalis - Anterior Scalp
Cranial Aponeurosis - Skin of eyebrows - Raises eyebrows & wrinkles forehead
Occipitals - Posterior scalp
Occipital bone and Temporal bone - Cranial Aponeurosis - Fixes aponeurosis and pulls scalp posteriorly
Orbicularis Oris - Thin, flat sphincter muscle of eyelid
Frontal bone and Maxilla - Tissue around eyes - Blinks and closes eyes
Orbicularis Oris - Encloses mouth, muscle of facial expression
Mandible & Maxilla - Skin and muscle around eyes - Closes and protrudes lips
Temporalis - Fan- shaped muscle that covers part of temporal, frontal and parietal bones.
Temporal Bone- Mandible - Closes Jaw
Masseter- Powerful muscle that covers lateral aspect of mandibular ramus.
Temporal Bone - Mandible - Closes Jaw
Buccinator - Thin, horizontal cheek muscle; principal muscle of cheek; deep to masseter.
Maxilla and mandible near molars - Orbicularis Oris - Compresses cheek
Zygomaticus - Muscle pair extending diagonally from cheekbone to corner of mouth.
Zygomatic bone - Skin and muscle at corner of lips - Raises corner of mouth
Risorius - Slender muscle inferior and lateral to zygomaticus.
Lateral Fascia associated with masseter muscle - Skin at angle of mouth - Draws corner of lips laterally
Levator Labii Superioris - Thin muscle begween orbicularis oris and inferior eye margin
Zygomatic bone and Infraorbital margin of maxilla - Skin and muscle of upper lips - Open lips; raises and furrows upper lips
Depressor Labii inferioris - Small muscle running from mandible to lower lip
Body of mandible lateral to its midline - Skin and muscle of lower lip - Draws lower lip inferiorly (pout)
Depressor anguli oris - Small muscle group lateral t depressor labii inferioris
Body of mandible below incisors - Skin and muscle at angle of mouth below insertion of zygomaticus - Draws corner of mouth down and laterally ( a “tragedy mask” )
Platysma - Unpaired thin, sheetlike superficial neck muscle; not strictly a head muscle but plays a role in facial expression
Connective tissue covering of superior chest muscles - Tissue around mouth - Tenses skin of neck ( as in shaving)
Sternocleidomastoid - Neck muscle classified with lateral cervical muscle
Sternum & Clavicle - Temporal Bone (mastoid process ) - Flexes neck ; laterally rotates head
Scalene - Located more anteriorly on neck; deep to platysma and sternocleidomastoid
Transverse process of cervical vertebrae - Anterolaterally on first two ribs - Elevate first two ribs; flexes and rotate neck
