Muscle Grading Flashcards
NORMAL (N) (5)
The part moves through full ROM against gravity with maximum resistance. (Will not break).
GOOD+ (G+) (4+)
The part moves through full ROM against gravity with maximum resistance, the muscle gives slightly but is able to immediately rebound.
GOOD (G) (4)
The part moves through full ROM against gravity with moderate resistance throughout the range (resistance through 3/3 range).
GOOD – (G-) (4-)
The part moves through full ROM against gravity with
less than moderate resistance (resistance through 2/3 range).
FAIR+ (F+) (3+)
The part moves through full ROM against gravity, takes minimal resistance and then breaks suddenly (resistance through 1/3 range).
FAIR (F) (3)
The part moves through full ROM against gravity with no resistance.
FAIR– (F-) (3-)
The part moves less than full ROM against gravity (more than 50% ROM AG).
POOR+ (P+) (2+)
-The part moves partial ROM against gravity (less than 50% ROM AG).
or
-The part moves through full range of motion on a gravity-eliminated plane and takes minimal resistance.
POOR (P) (2)
The part moves through full range of motion on a gravity-eliminated plane and takes no resistance.
POOR- (P-) (2-)
The part moves less than full ROM on a gravity-eliminated plane.
TRACE (T) (1)
Tension is palpated in the muscle or tendon but no motion or only a few degrees occurs at the joint.
ZERO (0) (0)
No muscle contraction.
