Skeletal muscle
Attached to bones, responsible for voluntary movements (e.g., walking, lifting weights)
Smooth muscle
Found in organs (e.g., digestive tract, blood vessels), responsible for involuntary movements (e.g., peristalsis).
Cardiac muscle
Cardiac Muscle: Involuntary, striated muscle specific to the heart.
Muscles
A tissue composed of muscle fibers that contract to produce movement. Muscles are essential for locomotion, maintaining posture, and performing various bodily functions.
Humerus
Located in your upper arm.
Ulna
Positioned on the little finger side of your forearm.
Radius
Found on the thumb side of your forearm.
Biceps
Attaches to an outcropping of your shoulder blade and your radius.
Flexion
Decreasing the angle between two bones (bending).
Extension
Increasing the angle between two bones (straightening a bend).
Abduction
Moving away from the body’s midline
Adduction
Moving toward the body’s midline
Triceps
muscle has four points of attachment
Hamstring
Flex the knee and extend the hip
Quadriceps
Extends the knee and flexes the hip
