Why did the Munich Putsch take place?
A
- Angry at Stresemann for calling off Ruhr passive resistance
- Inspired by Mussolini’s March on Rome
- Wanted a right-wing nationalist government

A
- Hitler and 600 SA burst into Beer Hall
- Demanded leader of Bavaria, von Kahr, support the Putsch
- Marched in to Munich
- Crushed by the army and Hitler and Ludendorff arrested

A
Von Kahr was able to contact the army and alert them to the Putsch

How did the Munich Putsch benefit Hitler?
A
- After trial, Ludendorff freed and Hitler given 5 year sentence (released after 9 months)
- Gave him lots of publicity
- Gave him time to rethink and reform the Nazi party
- Wrote Mein Kampf (My Struggle) while in jail
