Multiplication Flashcards
Order of multiplication?
Adsorption, penetration, uncoating, replication, assembly, and release.
Host range:
Limit of a virus’ ability to connect w/other cell receptors.
Adsorption:
Virus interacts w/cell receptors of host
Penetration:
Endocytosis of virus thru vacuole
Uncoating:
Enzymes dissolve capsid and release viral nucleic acid into host
Replication:
DNA viruses: replicate in nucleus. RNA viruses: replicate in cytoplasm.
Assembly:
Host cell synthesizes new viruses.
Release:
Enveloped viruses: exocytosis thru budding and pinching, taking some cell membrane.
Naked: host cell lyses.
Cytopathic effects:
Virus-induced alteration of microscopic appearance of host cells
Name some oncoviruses and latent virus:
HPV, hepatitis b, and epstein- Barr virus.
Latent: measles
