MULTIMEDIA Flashcards
Multimedia / Digital Media
Integration of media( text, images, graphic elements, animation, sound, music video) to create digital products available online and offline
Primary data
Self conducting/ collecting data/ data that has not been manipulated
Secondary data
Data that has been subjected to processing/ manipulation / data that has been collected from other sources
Site map
Visually/ textually organised model of website content that allows users to navigate through site and find information
Storyboard
Series of panels or rough sketches outlining scene sequence and major changes of action/ plot in production of film/ video
Image
Made up of matrix/ pixel
Pixels
Tiny dot of white, black or colour arranged in rows (bit mapped: 1 bit, 1 pixel)
Colour depth/ bit depth
Number of bits devoted to each picture to represent the colour of a single pixel
Resolution
Density of pixels, measured of dots per inch or pixel per inch
Clip art
Collection of redrawn and premade images that you can cut and paste in document
Bitmap
Images are stored and manipulated in organised collections of pixels rather than as shapes and lines
JPEG
Joint Photograph Expert Group
Digital photo/ high quality/ smaller size
GIF
Graphic interchange format
Great transparency, animation
BMP
Bitmapped
Image without compression, high quality
PNG
Portable Network Graphic
To improve replace GIF, great transparency, logos
PICT
Support vector + bitmap + write in quick time coding
TIFF
Tagged image file format
PSD
Adobe photoshop
Bitmapped ( Photo Editing)
Allows users to manipulate photographs and other high resolution images with tools such as photoshop
Vector
Storage of pictures as collections of lines, shapes and other objects
3D Modelling ( Software)
Used to create three dimensional objects with tools similar to those in drawing software
CAD/CAM
Computer Aided Design
the use of computers to draws products or process designs on screens
Dynamic media
Modern media that contains dynamic information Which is information that changes over time or in response to user input ( Animation, Video, Audio, Hypertext and hypermedia)
Hypermedia
Combination of text, numbers, graphics, animation, sound effects , music and other media in hyperlinked documents
Hypertext
An interactive conference and system that allows textual information to be linked in non sequential ways
Hypertext document
Document that contains links that lead quickly to other parts of the to related document
Animation
Process of stimulating motion with a series of still pictures
Tweeting
Creating each key frames and objects with software to fill in gaps( instead drawing by hand)
Audio
Music, sound or any other sound
MP3
Method of compression that can squeeze a music file to a fraction of its original CD size with only slight loss of quality
MIDI
(musical instrument digital interface)
Allows electronic instruments and copmputers wto communicate with each other
Audio ( sampling rate)
Rate at which samples of an analogue signal are taken in order to be converted into digital form(Hz)
