Ecosystems Approach:
- provides a view of the world within a social work perspective
- places emphasis on the individuals and the individual’s family systems functioning within the environment
- helps to see why clients want to change but problems persist
- assesses diverse aspects of situation, going beyond the surface

MICRO SYSTEM: The Individual (Client)
- looks at the client’s biologicalm psychological and social systems
- micro orientation: explore client’s needs, strengths, weaknesses and challenges
- work with him to enhance personal functional of life

A
MEZZO SYSTEM: Small groups (Client’s family, work groups, religious groups, other social groups)
- may be difficult to differentiate between issues involving micro or mezzo perspective of client
- make definitive distinctions between micro system and mezzo system

A
MACRO SYSTEM: Refers to a system larger than a small group
- focuses on social, political, and economic situation and policies that affect people’s access to the basic resources and quality of life (client’s country, organisations, communities and others)
- macro practice - focusing on how to improve social and economic context in which people live
