Q

“Magic Angle”

  • Angle = __ degrees?
  • Which sequence eliminates this artifact?
  • Why does that sequence work?
A

Artifactual intermediate signal intensity seen in some ligaments (PCL, patellar tendon)

  • 55 degrees
  • Should go away on T2; if it persists on T2, it’s real
  • T2 has long TE; short TE sequences have this artifact (T1, PD, GRE)
