What is the origin of the left and right common carotid arteries?
Left common carotid branches directly off the arch of aorta
Right common carotid artery arises from a bifurcation of brachiocephalic trunk at the level of the right sternoclavicular joint
What are the main branches of the left and right common carotid arteries and where do these branches arise?
The common carotid arteries branch off at the level of C4 to form the external and internal carotid arteries.
The common and internal carotid slightly bulge- the carotid sinus (important for detecting bp)
What arteries are responsible for the blood supply to the brain?
Vertebral arteries and internal carotid arteries
Where do the vertebral arteries arise from?
Arise from the subclavian arteries
