Describe psoriatic arthritis
A
Chronic inflammatory arthropathy assoc w/ psoriasis that affects peripheral and axial joint and entheses (ligaments and tendons)
Gentetic susceptibility - HLA-B27 and HLA-Cw6
Affects 30-50 yrs
10% of psoriatic pop- appears at same time as skin disease
Predom peripheral arthritis of hands and feet
Sacroiliac involved in 20%
DIPs first affected assymetrically (pencil in cup deformity)
Histologically similar to RA but is not as severe, remissions are more frequent, and joint destruction less frequent
