What are the different formal thought disorders?

What is circumstantialy?
Inability to answer a question without giving excessive, unnecessary detail. The person does eventually return to the original point.
What is tangentiality?
This refers to wandering from a topic without returning to it.
What is a neologism?
New word formations, which might include combining two words.
What are clang associations?
When ideas are related to each other only by the fact they sound similar or rhyme.
What is word salad?
Completely incoherent speech where real words are strung together into nonsense sentences.
What is knights move?
A severe type of loosening of associations, where there are unexpected and illogical leaps from one idea to another.
What is flight of ideas?
Feature of mania.
Leaps from one topic to another but with links between them.
What is echolalia
The repetition of someone else’s speech
Including the question being asked
What is formal thought disorder?
Disorder of the form of the thought rather than of the content of thought (this covers hallucinations and delusions), formal thought disorder unlike hallucinations and delusions is an observable objective sign of psychosis.
