What is MS also called whats maily happening?
disseminated sclerosis
chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disease of unknown etiology –> demyelination of the CNS –> neurologic dysfunctions
Whats the men/women ration and age of onset in MS?
72% female, onset 21-40 years
Symptoms of MS
numbness, tingling, weakness in extremetry, visual loss, color vision change, field defects, diplodia, dizziness, difficulty swallowing, bowel and bladder dysfunction, ataxia of gait
What kind of diagnistic is used for MS?
MRI, oligoclonal banding, symptoms (normal MRI + symptoms do not exclude diagnosis, but without symptoms, no clear diagnosis)
Name and describe the different disease courses in MS
RRMS: 1:2-3 (m/w)
SPMS: peak of disease 30 years, diagnosis after 3,4 years
PPMS: peak of disease 40-50 years, 1:1 (m/W), espaecially caucasians)
