(head) placed in super conducting magnets magnetic field supplied and radio pulse excite H nuclei.
when H nuclei de-excite they emit (radio) photons
these signals are detected and passed to computer
gradient in static field to allow location to be determined in magnetic field

By using rapid repeated pulses. Because it contains tissues with large molecules.
