MRI Rules Flashcards
What is the order of images you should read first?
T2 then T1
What images should you read first? (coronal, transverse or sagittal?)
- coronal (frontal)
- transverse (axial)
- sagittal
On sagittal view, what is the order of structures under the 5th met?
FDMB- most lateral
Tendon of ABDM is next (black)
muscle of ABDM is next (grey)
*this is a “sandwhich” with the tendon in between
On sagittal view, From the medial cortex of the 5th met to the middle bisection of the 3rd met is what?
interossei (dorsal/plantar)
On sagittal view, what lies From the medial bisection of the 3rd met to the lateral part of the 1st met?
oblique head of ADH
On sagittal view, proximal to the TMTJ in the same area as ADH is what muscle?
QP
On coronal view of the rearfoot, what muscle(s) lie in between the middle bisection and medial cortex of the calcaneus?
inferior muscle- FDB
on top- QP
*these muscles love each other
if you see a crescent shaped fibula, what muscle is next to it?
PB
if you see a round shaped fibula, what muscle is next to it?
PL
which structure in the neurovascular bundle in the medial ankle sits next to FHL?
tibial nerve
Recall the peroneal tubercle on the calcaneus has tunnels for the tendons of PL and PB. which runs superiory? inferiorly?
PB- superior
PL- inferior
what are the 3 striated ligaments?
posterior talofib
posterior tibiotalar
short plantar ligament
*striated bc they contain fat
if the fibula is round shaped, what does this indicate about your section? what ligaments do you expect to see?
section is higher up
tib-fib ligaments
anterior tibiotalar
if the fibula is crescent shaped, what does this indicate about your section? what ligaments do you expect to see?
section is lower
posterior talofib
tibionavicular
What is the Master’s knot of Henry?
junction between FDL and FHL
