MRI Brain Anatomy Notes Flashcards
The reverse omega sign to tell which lobe is frontal and which is partietal lobe
Central sulcus
White mater is the myelinated neurons
Gyri is the bumpy out bits
Where the white mater joins is your corpus collosum
The dark parts at the side is the start of the lateral ventricles
The third ventricle comes into view later on in-between the lateral ventricles
Fourth ventricles is by the cerebellum and the pons
CSF is made in lateral ventricles
Hydrocephalus if anything is blocked
Thalamus below the levels of the lateral ventricles
Occuipal lobe is same level of the thalamus
Sylvian fissure same level of the thalamus
The temporal lobe starts here
Midbrain is visible when the start of the cerebellum is
Pons is visible when fourth ventricle is
Midbrain - pons -medulla -spina cord
Cerebellum - fourth ventricle
Foramen magnum
Optic nerve optic chiasam
Pituitary gland - pituitary stock - behind the optic chiasam
Hypothalamus
Pituitary gland sits in the sella turcica
