MRI Flashcards
1
Q
6 month old Westie
A
Hydraencephaly
- Near complete destruction/lack of the neocortex
- Associated with in utero viral infection (panleukopenia), hypoxia, hypoperfusion
- Contiguous with the lateral ventricle
- Early onset of clinic signs
2
Q
9yo Sheepdog
A
Porencephaly
- Wedged shape
- May communicate with the ventricles
- Multiple, single, bilateral
- More likely asymtamatic unlike hydra
3
Q
10 yo shih tzu
A
Intracranial arachnoid diverticulum
Quadrigeminal cyst/diverticulum
Supracollicular fluid accumulations
Rostrocerebellar diverticula
- Persians
4
Q
A
Intracranial arachnoid diverticulum of the 4th ventricle
5
Q
A
Intracranial arachnoid diverticulum of the 4th ventricle
- Obstructive hydrocephalus
- Altered signal intensity = hemorrhage
- Syringomyelia
Cysts causing >14% compression of the occipital lobe are always associated with clinical signs. No association with the amount of cerebellar compression
6
Q
4yo English setter
A
Epidermoid cyst
- Contains keratin and squamous cells
- CEREBELLOPONTINE ANGLE or 4th ventricle
T2 hyperintense, T1 hypointense - Does not FLAIR OUT.
7
Q
A
Dermoid cyst
- Heterogeneous but T1 hyperintense too
- Does not STIR out
- Chemical shift artifact
