He is a businessman that’s main concern is money so he comes across as being greedy
we may look forward to the time when crofts and birlings are no longer competing but working together for lower costs and higher prices.
It is clear that his money driven and that his daughters in gauge meant is a chance to push for level costs and higher prices which shows how greedy he is and does not consider the impact of higher prices he just wants more money
