• Development: moves through various keys including F# minor
• Recapitulation returns to G minor for end of movement

- Metre (time signature) is 4/4 throughout (simple time)
- Tempo is Molto Allegro – very fast
- Short rhythmic ideas are repeated to create unity
- Rhythms are simple, although there are some dotted rhythms
- Some syncopation (off-beat rhythms)

- Exposition: Includes 1st Subject, bridge passage and 2nd Subject
- Recapitulation: Includes 1st subject, 2nd subject and Coda

- Orchestra consists of woodwind, strings and horns
- Strings dominate the movement and play throughout
- Woodwind plays a little less
- Horns are in 2 different keys – G and Bb
