Passive transport
The movement of a substance through a cell membrane WITHOUT energy
- diffusion
- Osmosis
Diffusion
Molecules move from area of high concentration to low concentratio, stops at equelibrium
Osmosis
Water moves from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration, stops at equelibrium
Facilitated diffusion
Transport proteins move substances in and out of the cell
Active transport
The movement of a substance through cell membrane WITH the use of energy
- Endocyctosis
- Exocystosis
Endocystosis
A substance is taken into a cell by surrounding it with the cell membrane, forming a sphere called a vesicle.
Exocystosis
The vesicle fuses with the cell membrane and the vesicles contents are released outside of the cell
