Why do residents partly blame the Goma Volcano Observatory
The world bank ceased its funding in 2020 and then the observatory stoped monitoring the volcano
However in May 2021 they issued a warning that the volcano’s lava lake was filling up, increasing the risk but didn’t have good enough info to release a more detailed and precise warning due to lack of funding
What are authorities planning on doing since the volcano
Considering moving parts of Goma to the town of Sake due to Mount Nyiragongo however very expensive and difficult to convince residents to move
