One officer per shift per day will be able to take time off (Compensatory time off, Holiday, Vacation) if the shift time off is vacant with the following exceptions and restrictions:
The request is submitted 30 days in advance
If there is another officer off on the day requested, the watch commander has the discretion to grant the day off if it will not will result in a mandate for replacements
Existing shift vacancies - IOD, Admin Leave, Long term sick leave, or training
When is CTO time off allowed for an officer?
It shall be allowed if an officer procures a replacement thru a shift swap

Four hours pay rate, and an ‘hour for hour’ OT pay rate thereafter.
How much overtime time will an officer receive for telephonic hearings?
Four hours pay rate, and an ‘hour for hour’ OT pay rate thereafter.
Court hearing and official hearings shall include the following:
Federal or State Court (Superior, Juvenile, Traffic), DMV Hearings, job related depositions, or employee related proceedings
How many hours is an employee entitled to for ‘On Call” status outside of scheduled working status?
Two hours minimum overtime at the regular rate of pay, and if it continues past the two hours, it will be hour for hour and will include court lunch recess
How much clothing allowance is allotted to sergeants and officers assigned to plain clothes details?
$650.00 annually
What percentage monthly of pay can qualifying officers and sergeants receive for bilingual status?

How many officers / sergeants are allotted by the City of Redondo Beach to receive bilingual pay? What languages are considered eligible?
A minimum of 12 officers and sergeants. English and Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, American Sign Language, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Farsi, German or French.
How many linear miles must a K-9 Officer reside from the City Redondo Beach?
The domicile must be 50 linear miles.
How many premium pay positions shall there be as agreed upon by the Association and The City?

An employee is eligible to receive Longevity Pay at such time when he or she begins each year of public agency law enforcement service, which will be calculated on an employee’s base pay, exclusive of all other pay. What are the years of service and percentages allotted?
10 years - 6%
15 years - 12%
20 years - 18%
What must an employee do in order to work for an approved outside employer or ‘self-employment’ other than the City?
The employee must get written approval from the Chief of Police on the form provided by the City.
How many days shall an employee receive for revocation of an approved outside employer?
The employee involved shall receive at least 14 calendar days advanced notice in writing of such revocation.
How often must requests for approval of outside employment be submitted to the City / Chief of Police?
Annually
How many hours may a non-probationary employee work for an approved outside employer in a calendar week?
32 hours per calendar week
How many hours may an employee work for an approved outside employer in a 24 hour period?
16 hours. The Chief of Police may grant an exception during an emergency circumstance or extreme demonstrated need.
How many hours shall an employee receive of pay at the overtime rate when the employee is called back to work involuntarily outside of the employee’s regularly scheduled work hours?
A minimum of two hours overtime pay.
What happens to an employee scheduled to work a special event overtime and fails to fulfill their assignment?
The employee will be placed on the bottom of the special event OT list and miss one rotation.
What are the times designated for volunteer “on-call” status for employees assigned to investigations (Detective Bureau, Special Investigations Unit, Traffic Investigator)?
Seven consecutive calendar days beginning at 12:01 AM each Saturday and ending the following Saturday at 12:00 AM, but only required to respond to call outs Mondays through Thursdays from 5:01 PM until 8:00 AM the following morning, and on weekends beginning 5:01 PM Friday and ending 8:00 AM the following Monday morning.
