Motivation
A persons willingness to put in effort for a specific outcome
Intrinsic Motivation
INTERNAL the incentive we feel to complete a task simply because we find it interesting or enjoyable. such as completing a difficult hike.
Extrinsic Motivation
EXTERNAL motivation to participate in an activity based on meeting an external goal, garnering praise and approval, winning a competition, or receiving an award or payment
Competence/Mastery
Mastery is when you are among the best at doing something. Competency is when you are good at doing something. like setting a record.
Stimulus Avoidance
Stimulus avoidance is when an individual intentionally steers clear of situations or stimuli that cause them discomfort or anxiety.
Socialisation
Socialization is the process by which individuals learn and adopt the behaviors, values, and norms of their culture or social group. sense of community.
Cognitive Reward
Cognitive reward refers to the mental satisfaction or pleasure gained from engaging in activities that stimulate the mind, such as solving problems, learning new information, or achieving intellectual goals.
State of ‘Flow’
The state of “flow” is a mental state in which a person is fully immersed, focused, and engaged in an activity, experiencing a sense of effortless involvement and enjoyment.
