How to work out the overall race speed in m/s when the distance is 308km and the completion time is 1hour 48mins

Multiply 308 by 1000 to convert it to metres
= 308000m
Then convert 1 hour 48 mins
1hr 48mins = 108mins
108minutes multiplied by 60 = 6480 seconds

Speed = 308,000 ➗ 6480 = 47.5 m/s

How to work out the fastest lap time in m/s when the whole race distance is 308km. There were 58 laps and the fastest lap time in min:sec is 1:29

The time in seconds for the lap is 89 as 1:29 mins is 89 in seconds

The you divide the total distance of the race by the number of laps which gives you 5.310…. Multiply it by 1000 to put it into metres and it gives you 5310m

Next you 5310 ➗ 89 = 59.7 m/s
