Segmenting things from a video. Like background subtraction (removing background from video, focus only on moving subject(s))

Explain boundary detection.
A
When the scene changes in a video (so there is a big change in the background)

Why would you estimate motion?
A
- Tracking behaviour
- Align images
- Stabilization

What is optical flow, and how is it done?
A
The apparent movement of objects or surfaces. Its done by estimating the motion of each pixel, and then considering the entire image. You assume the color stays constant and that the motion is small.
